Set Specifications
Who Was Garech Browne?
Garech Browne, heir to the Guinness brewing fortune, founded Claddagh Records in 1959 with the aim of preserving Ireland's musical and spoken word heritage against the rising tide of pop culture arriving from the UK. Known for his eccentricity, wealth and famous friendships with figures including Bono, Mick Jagger, Brendan Behan, Sean Connery, Picasso and Samuel Beckett, Browne obsessed over every detail of Claddagh's releases, from sleeve design to the fees paid to traditional musicians, while largely leaving the recording process itself to the artists and engineers he trusted. President Michael D. Higgins contributed to the book, praising Browne's insight and pioneering work in preserving Irish culture for future generations.
About This Box Set

The LP also features a previously unreleased poetry reading by Paul Muldoon, winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and the T.S. Eliot Prize for poetry. The set is completed by a poster and presented in a rigid slipcase, published via Claddagh Records.
