Who Is TOLEDO?
TOLEDO are an American indie duo formed by Daniel Alvarez de Toledo and Jordan Dunn-Pilz, who met busking on the streets of their hometown of Newburyport, Massachusetts, before relocating to Brooklyn. The pair released their debut EP, Hot Stuff, in 2019, before following up with Jockeys Of Love in 2021 and their debut full length album, How It Ends, later that year via Grand Jury Records.
About Jockeys Of Love
Co-produced by Jorge Elbrecht, whose credits include Ariel Pink, Wild Nothing and No Joy, Jockeys Of Love finds TOLEDO settling into a distinctive sweet spot between indie folk and stripped-back indie rock. Across six tracks, including It's Alive!, Dog Has Its Day and Sunday Funday, the duo explore raw, vulnerable emotional territory, touching on anxiety, depression, alcoholism and relationship strain. The band has described lead single Challenger as a song about art funding and the comfort of doing what you love, while other tracks weaponise silence and quiet tension between two people who know each other intricately. Despite its heavy subject matter, the EP radiates warmth and hope, wrapped in hushed, dreamlike production.
